Family Portraits - October 30, 2011

Yesterday afternoon I took some family shots of some friends that I have been photographing for several years now.  We were going for the holiday card photo but took lots of different configurations.  What a great late afternoon light we had.  We took the photos on a ground floor room with lots of window light.  So much fun to see the boys get bigger every year.  I love that we have made this an annual tradition.

Monica and Brandon - October 23, 2011

Yesterday I spent the afternoon with Monica and Brandon, a couple whose wedding I will photograph next summer.  They met as students at the University of Maryland, thus that was the location that they picked for their engagement session.   We had a beautiful fall day to walk around to many of their favorite sites on campus including the pub where they first met.

After stopping for a quick beer and bite to eat said establishment we headed off to D.C. where they live to pick of their adorable pup, Freckles, and finish our shoot on the waterfront.  Their apartment is next to the National's ball park and the park that we went to is part of the new development along the Anacostia River that has sprung up since the ball park was built.  Such a beautiful location.  I always find it exciting to see new urban development in parts of town that were pretty much deserted.

Thank you Monica and Brandon for a great day.  I really look forward to your wedding in July!

Sauer Family - October 22, 2011

Today I spent the morning with the Sauers taking some family photos.  I photographed Karen and Bill's wedding 11 years ago on Gibson Island, a beautiful oasis on the western side of the Chesapeake that I had never heard of until their wedding.  Since then, through their generous referrals including Karen's younger sister, I have been back there many times for other weddings.

Today Karen and Bill have two adorable sons and live in Old Town, Alexandria.  Bill's parents were in town to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.  Bill's sister, along with her husband and baby girl, were also visiting for the party.  So --- we took photos!!  So nice to see everyone again.

Love you Karen and Bill - hope to see you again soon.
