Leonard Family Portraits - November 29, 2010

I met this beautiful family when I did their portrait last year at Montrose Park in D.C., with several other families. Last year they had two adorable twins, and this year there is a new baby girl. Yesterday we met at their home to take some early morning shots. The kids were great - the baby is so yummy and the twins got lots of time both in front and behind the camera. All children seem to love getting to take a few pictures with my big rig and it always makes them agreeable to a few more snaps on the other side of the lens - a great trick when trying to get that perfect family portrait. Many thanks to this family for asking me back for year two of portraits, I do hope we get to do the same next holiday season.

The Kerr Family - November 28, 2010

Yesterday I drove to Bethany Beach to spend some time taking photos of the fabulous Kerr family. I met Joni several years ago when our kids were in the same school, and we have continued to run into each other over the years at various social and sport events. Lately we have been taking the same Thursday morning yoga class. We got to talking before class one day about family photos and Thanksgiving weekend turned out to be the perfect opportunity. Her family owns a wonderful home right on the beach - the perfect portrait location.

My son, Jake, and I spent yesterday hanging out with her lovely family. A great time was had by all and the really good red wine made a special appearance. I can't wait to do it again.

Joni is a special breed of athlete who runs 100 mile races along with every other sport known to man and is a very impressive yogi. All this and she is such good company and so much fun! I feel inspired by her energy.

Today we got up to take portraits on the beach. A glorious bright chilly day. Her boys were such good sports about the posing and posing and then doing some more posing for me. Her boys (and husband) are such a great group of guys. Thanks so much for having us down, we can't wait to see all of you again soon.

Family Portraits at Washington International School - November 21, 2010

This lovely family came to me though my dear friend, Richard Holden, a DC photographer who has settled on the banks of the Chesapeake and now takes only local jobs. Many thanks to Richard because this job was a really great one. Dean called me a couple of months ago to set up this shoot as a surprise for his wife to take photos of them and their four year old daughter. They teach at the Washington International School so we were lucky enough to have full run of the beautiful campus and mansion on a Sunday afternoon. Dean also brought along his mother, father and sister-in-law. We shot outside until we lost the light and then moved into the mansion for a couple of shots in front of the fireplace.

This was a very nice family - so much fun to photograph and spend an afternoon with. I do hope our paths cross again.
