Dana - July 27, 2009

Yesterday, I got to spend some time in the afternoon with an adorable one year old, Dana. I met Dana last August when I photographed her mom's holy union ceremony and her baptism at Saint John's Church in Georgetown. Dana and her moms are moving to the west coast this week, so I am glad we got the opportunity to get these shots taken before they take off. I do look forward to seeing everyone again in October when they are back on this coast visiting.

Safe travels to Dawn, Sandra and Dana.

Lily Wood, July 22, 2009

I went to Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD today to meet Randy and Susan's new daughter, Lily. She is beautiful and perfect, but she had no interest in waking up for me during the whole two hours I was there. I can't wait to spend some time with her when she is up and around!!

All my love to Susan and Randy.

Whitney & Patrick-July 18, 2009

Yesterday Kait Whitehead and I spent a beautiful afternoon and evening with Whitney and Patrick photographing their wedding in Alexandria. The weather was so cool and free of humidity we thought we were in New England and not Washington, D.C. in the summer. The ceremony was as St. Joseph's in Old Town and the reception was at the Hotel Monaco, also in Old Town. Big thanks so Alex Pare and her team from Cherry Blossom Weddings and Events for making the day go so smoothly.

This was a very energetic crowd and I am sure they danced long into the night after Kait and I had packed up and gone home. Thanks so much Whitney and Patrick and their great families and friends for such a fun event.

Priya and Jim - July 11, 2009

Yesterday I spent the day with my whole team plus a new shooter for the wedding of Priya and Jim at the Washington, D.C. Historical Society. I had my team of Kait Whitehead and Randy Wood with me, as well as Rena Schild, a local D.C. attorney, who has a growing photography business on the side. She was a great addition to our team and will be shooting with me again in August while Kait is off vacationing in Europe and Randy is awaiting the imminent birth of his first child.

Kait and I started the day with Priya at Erwin Gomez's salon in Georgetown for hair and make-up. Then we went to the Historical Society for the ceremony and reception where we met up with Randy and Rena. This beautiful building used to be the City Museum, and before that the Carnegie Library. Jack Lucky provided the amazing flowers that made the site so beautiful. We got to work with some of our favorite vendors for this job. Ellen Cutler and Occasions provided their usual stellar catering, and the Johnny Artis Band provided both the cocktail music and the music for the reception. They are my all time favorite band to work with, and I refer whenever I can as my evening is always so much fun when I get to listen to them while I work.

The ceremony was a mixture of Indian and western influences. Priya was an absolutely beautiful bride. I wanted to stay up all night and download all the images but I had to get some sleep as Kait and I were back at work this morning to photograph the post-wedding brunch held in honor of Priya's parent's 50th wedding anniversary. A great end to a great weekend. Priya and Jim are off to Italy tomorrow, but I promise them that all their images from both events will be waiting for them when they return home.
