Event at Coco Sala - September 14, 2011

Last night I took a couple of scene shots for Hollis Pica, Event Manager at CoCo Sala.  This beautiful restaurant has use of a very unique space outside of the office building that they are housed in.  It is a terrace that is bordered on one side by their very contemporary building and on the other by the stone of St. Patrick's church.  Last night's event was a champagne and dessert reception that was put on by Danielle Kambic of Hello Washington for some of her corporate clients who were in DC for meetings.  So nice to work with both these ladies - I would highly recommend both the space and Hollis and Danielle to everyone.

Mayela and Andres - September 10, 2011

Mayela and Andres got married this afternoon in a small and ever so lovely ceremony at their apartment building in Rockville.  I met Mayela when she came to the U.S. from Mexico to work as an au pair for my good friends, the Malkins.  Not long after she arrived she met Andres, and the rest, as they say, is history.  When I first heard of their engagement I made her promise me that I could shoot the wedding.  It was a small gathering of very close friends and family.  Mayela's family came in from Mexico and Andres' from Columbia.  One of the biggest treats for me is that the Malkins, who now live in Boston, flew down for the event and I got to visit with them today.

All my best to this very dear couple.  Mayela went to dental school in Mexico and hopes to practice here in the states.   I promise to send lots of friends to her when she gets her practice up and running.

The beautiful cake came from Fancy Cakes by Leslie in Bethesda.

Chantel and Stephen - September 2, 2011

Chantel and Stephen got married this past Friday night at the Oxon Hill Manor.   I have worked at this beautiful site many times in the past, but it has been several years since I have been back.   What a treat to have the opportunity to do so with this lovely couple.  This job came to me through Chantel's make-up artist, Marquia Kinard, of Blend Make-up Artistry.   Marquia is so talented and so much fun.  She offers air brush make-up as well as custom blended colors.   Check her out!   We started at the couple's house and then moved to Oxon Hill for the ceremony and reception.

The weather looked a but iffy with some big rain clouds looming, but the sky cleared and we had a perfect evening for their garden ceremony.  Many thanks to Matt Splain for his great help second shooting.  Also thanks to the staff at Upton Catering for their great service.

All my best to Chantel and Stephen.  I look forward to seeing them again soon for some family portraits we are scheduling.
