The Fritzlens - 5-30-09

Yesterday I spent the afternoon with the Fritzlens at Bethesda Country Club taking family portraits. I photographed Laura and Kevin's wedding in April of 2005 and now they have two beautiful children, Julia and Garrett. It was out first sunny day after many days of rain so we really lucked out with the weather. Toward the end of the shoot, when the kids were getting a bit tired of posing for me, Kevin's parents arrived which quickly put smiles back on the kids faces and made for some wonderful end of the day shots. As I have said before, it is so nice to keep up with wedding clients as their familes grow and I get to take pictures with their children.
Wonderful to see everyone yesterday, I hope we get together again soon.

Mayster Family

Today, Memorial Day, I got to spend a few hours with the Maysters. I shot Scott and Debbi's wedding in January of 2005 and now they have two beautiful children, Sam and Ellie. We spent some time in my studio taking our first shots, and then moved outside to our porch to capture some moments with natural light. Sam was completely transfixed by my husband's elaborate model train set. We coaxed a few extra photos out of him by running the trains for him.

Great to see everyone again. Gorgeous family!

Samit Family Portraits

I am always honored when people I know ask me to take portraits for them. Thus, I was very excited when my friend, Nancy, asked me to photograph her family. We used McCrillis Gardens in Bethesda as our outdoor studio. Everyone was so easy to work with. The shoot was very fun, and to the delight of my younger subjects, very quick! I really enjoy doing relaxed, casual, outdoor photos. The light this time of year is beautiful. It is so crisp and clear before the hazy humid days of summer set in.

Battle of the Bands - 5-16-09

My ten year old son, Jake, competed in the Battle of the Bands at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. yesterday. As someone who has spent a lot of time at this famous club over the years, it was thrilling to see my boy share the stage that has seen some of rocks greatest acts.

His band, Tunnel, has six members, ranging in age from nine to twelve. Although Tunnel did not win, they sounded great and played their hearts out. We look forward to the next competition.

Anne and Rob - May 9, 2009

Anne and Rob were married yesterday at Strathmore Mansion in Bethesda. After nine straight days of rain, we kept our fingers crossed that the weather would hold for their outdoor ceremony. Not only did it hold, but it turned into a beautiful day and evening. This couple had some of the most festive friends and family you could imagine. Kaitey and I had so much fun working with everyone. We wish them their best as they head off to a honeymoon in the Dominican Republic and then back to life in Charlottesville.

The vendors for this event were:
Location: Strathmore Mansion, Bethesda, MD
Cake: Sweet and Savory Cakes, Frederick, MD
Florist: BrookHill Florist, Annandale, VA
DJ: Electra Entertainment

Heart's Delight Wine Event - 5-7-09

For the last five years, Kait and I have donated our time to the dinners that are thrown each year in May to support the Heart's Delight events which benefit the American Heart Association. As someone who had a heart defect caught and operated on at age 30, I am a huge supporter of this cause.

Every year at least one of the events that we have photographed has been at the Bethesda home of J.D. and Genevieve Murphy. For the past four years the dinners were catered by chefs from both Marcel's and Brasserie Beck. This year, the chef was Christophe Marque of Cafe du Parc at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The food presentation was spectacular and the Murphy's are about the nicest hosts you could imagine. If Kait and I were not working, we would still be there as the guests enjoyed the fabulous food and wine that we have come to expect from this wonderful event each year.
