Priya and Jim - July 11, 2009

Yesterday I spent the day with my whole team plus a new shooter for the wedding of Priya and Jim at the Washington, D.C. Historical Society. I had my team of Kait Whitehead and Randy Wood with me, as well as Rena Schild, a local D.C. attorney, who has a growing photography business on the side. She was a great addition to our team and will be shooting with me again in August while Kait is off vacationing in Europe and Randy is awaiting the imminent birth of his first child.

Kait and I started the day with Priya at Erwin Gomez's salon in Georgetown for hair and make-up. Then we went to the Historical Society for the ceremony and reception where we met up with Randy and Rena. This beautiful building used to be the City Museum, and before that the Carnegie Library. Jack Lucky provided the amazing flowers that made the site so beautiful. We got to work with some of our favorite vendors for this job. Ellen Cutler and Occasions provided their usual stellar catering, and the Johnny Artis Band provided both the cocktail music and the music for the reception. They are my all time favorite band to work with, and I refer whenever I can as my evening is always so much fun when I get to listen to them while I work.

The ceremony was a mixture of Indian and western influences. Priya was an absolutely beautiful bride. I wanted to stay up all night and download all the images but I had to get some sleep as Kait and I were back at work this morning to photograph the post-wedding brunch held in honor of Priya's parent's 50th wedding anniversary. A great end to a great weekend. Priya and Jim are off to Italy tomorrow, but I promise them that all their images from both events will be waiting for them when they return home.
