Little Dr. Baby - November 28, 2013

Joe and I met Dr. Mary about ten years ago in a yoga class in D.C. when she was finishing up medical school and getting ready to move to New York for her residency.   We fell so in love with her that we kept in close touch always.   She stayed in the city after finishing all her training and married Dr. Jeff who we love just as much as we do her.  Now they have a Dr. Baby who we got to meet for the first time when we were up visiting over Thanksgiving.  I did a little portrait shoot before the lovely Thanksgiving meal that they cooked for us.    I went up to their apartment early to take photos and then Joe and Jake came up.  Of course the first thing they did was go for the baby!!

We can't wait to see them again in the spring in D.C.

Sophie's Bat Mitzvah - November 16, 2013

This past Saturday I photographed the most charming bat mitzvah.  Sophie and her family gathered at Temple Sinai for pre-service portraits on Saturday morning.   Then after the service they held a luncheon at the Temple catered by the The Catering Company of Washington.  After a break of a few hours we reconvened at the Chevy Chase Community Center for a dinner and karaoke party.  What a great crowd pleasing participatory activity.  Almost everyone got up and sang and there was some serious talent displayed.  I will admit, however, that I have had a certain Squeeze song playing non stop in my head since Saturday night.  "Tempted by the fruit of another....."

Big congratulations to Sophie and her lovely family.   Many thanks as well to Matt Splain who second shot with me the whole day and night.
