Jocelyn and Jim - October 17, 2009

Yesterday morning my husband woke me up at 5:00 a.m. to let me know we had no power. As I had to be out of the house at 7:30 for Jocelyn and Jim's wedding I went into panic mode. I showered and dressed by candle light and manually opened the garage while my ten year old son held a flashlight so I could find the release. Not to mention that it was 41 degrees in October and pouring rain.

However, the minute that Kait Whitehead and I arrived at Jocelyn's hotel room to take some getting ready shots, all my angst evaporated. Jocelyn was so cool and calm that I immediately felt at ease. She and Jim have been such a pleasure to work with. Fortunately we had perfect weather in August when we did our engagement shoot on the mall so they do have some nice outdoor shots. The rain did give us the opportunity to do some very cool umbrella pictures and luckily the church was beautiful, so the indoor portraits had a lovely background.

This crowd knew how to have fun and Chris Laich kept the dance floor packed from the first song to the last. The reception was at the new Westin in Old Town and I was very impressed with everything about the hotel.

All my love to Jim and Jocelyn as the head off to St. Lucia on Wednesday. I bet the tropical sun will feel great after our very cold and wet October weather.

Mandy and Sam - October 11, 2009

Mandy and Sam were married yesterday at Washington Hebrew Synagogue in Washington, D.C. The weather was perfect as was just about everything else about the day. Mandy is a busy physician, very involved in health care reform, who hardly had time to get married this week after a meeting at the White House on Monday and on air interviews with all the networks. Mandy and Sam took off for a week in Italy today. A well deserved vacation for this busy couple. I look forward to catching up with them when they return.

I was lucky to have both members of my team, Kait Whitehead and Randy Wood, with me for the day. As always, I could not have done it without them. I also got to work with some of my favorite vendors, which always makes the day so much fun.

Michal and Kevin - September 18, 2009

Kait and I got to spend this morning photographing Michal and Kevin's wedding at a private residence in Darnestown, Maryland. How much fun to have a Friday morning wedding! The bride, Michal, is the daughter of the principal at my sons's elementary school. The wedding was small and intimate, the only guests being the immediate family of the bride and groom.

There was a red barn on the property that made the perfect prop for portraits. Michal and Kevin were great sports about being dragged through the woods for pictures there. The weather threatened to rain but ended up being perfect. Best of luck to Michal and Kevin as they return to their home in Arkansas to start married life.
